Slowly slowly, moving to soundcloud

I'm slowly moving to Sound Cloud, one song and one suitcase at a time :) to share some of my own songs. The quality is really low so please excuse that but I've just invested in my first soundcard so that should solve things!

Check out mautomata on soundcloud here:

Hope you like the songs and connect with me if you're on Soundcloud too!!

Singing at Pavilion :)

Sooo...I sang at the Pavilion some of my own songs in November - yes, in 2012 ;)! It was part of a singer/songwriter night regularly organized by The Fridge (Check out their upcoming events here)!! This was my first performance after many years of 'the bedroom sessions' ;)!!

We liked the same things

Singing at Pecha Kucha

I'm excited to be singing my own songs tonight at Pecha Kucha Dubai and even happier that it's at one of my new favourite spots in Dubai, The Archive! A bookshop/coffee shop/art space (or so I like to think) in the middle of Safa Park.

Mashalla News - Visual Sunday

I was really happy to be featured in Mashalla News last week, as part of their weekly Visual Sunday series. I love the work and articles they post - they're always a breath of fresh air in the region.

Check out the post here.

Always time for music

Work has taken over. There's no time to draw. And to make little puppets. But there's always time for music. And there's only time to dream.

What a voice and what lovely lyrics.

Holland by Cold Specks

"Rotterdam, goddamn
These starving organs hem and haw
Morning of the opposed modernity
And I heard them scream

We are many, we are many, we are

And in the Hague, I did proclaim:
Cousin, I'll find god in the gutter
You'll catch the dead and bury them with old words
When the hours begin to flee I will sing
Recover me

We are many
We are many
We are dust
We are many
We are many
We are dust
Into dust we will all return

Oh I, whole night, I heard you sing
Only dreamers, dead times, and dirty kings
Oh I, whole night, I heard you sing
O death, where is thy sting?
Does it feed on eager limbs?
How will the body know?
I was caught in the eye with a nightingale
Hold the water, let it burn

Some lives may dig deep but my cold crime is clean
If I show you my hands, will you carry the beast?
We are many
We are many
We are dust
Into dust we will all return"

A darker heaven

"Today,  I dream of a darker heaven,
where there is no light but there is surely magic
and we have aged here
and we have aged here

This is not the heaven they all spoke of
and seemed to understand

Autumn leaves crunching
beneath our  feet
a million songs below
a million songs below

We walked in the woods
cradled by night
that knows conversation,
and knows it well.

We spoke of music
and what more could I ever want

than a darker heaven
that begins and ends in woods
and words
and words

a darker heaven
where there is no light but there is surely magic
and we have aged here
and we have aged here."
